OriginPro 2026b · The analysis workbench for R&D and QC labs
Every instrument in your lab. One place to make sense of it.
XRD and Raman, tensile testers and DSC, plate readers and production gauges. Each one exports its own file, and somebody ends up copying it into Excel. OriginPro replaces that patchwork: import, graph, fit, test and report in one program, then repeat it on the next hundred files with one click.

The whole workbench
Six jobs your lab does every week. One program for all of them.
Most labs use one tool to export, another to clean up, a third to plot and a fourth for statistics, plus a few scripts nobody dares to touch. OriginPro covers the whole path from raw file to finished report. Click a step.
Built for your field
What OriginPro does on a Tuesday in your lab
The same program, four very different labs. Pick yours.
Close-up · Peak analysis for spectroscopy and XRD
Three peaks hiding in one bump? Origin finds them.
Overlapping peaks are where spreadsheets give up. Origin subtracts the baseline, finds hidden peaks from the second derivative and fits every component at once, so you get centre, width and area for each one. Click through the steps.
Fit results appear after step 4.
Example data, fitted in your browser with a Levenberg–Marquardt fit to show the idea. Peak fitting is an OriginPro feature.
Close-up · Batch analysis
Analyse one file. Origin does the other 199.
Set up the analysis once and save it as an Analysis Template. Point it at a folder and Origin repeats every step on every file, then collects the results in one summary report. Same settings every time, which your QC lab and your auditor will both like.
| File | Peak 1 (cm⁻¹) | Area ratio | Result |

Why it pays for itself
How much spreadsheet time does your lab spend?
Hand work isn’t just slow. Every dataset done by hand is a chance for a different baseline, a copied cell in the wrong row, or a graph that doesn’t match last month’s. Put in your own numbers and see what an Analysis Template gives back.
- Same method on every file, so results can be compared year over year
- New data in, report out: graphs and tables update by themselves
- The engineer’s time goes into the conclusions, not the copying
Your numbers, your estimate. Based on 46 working weeks and 40-hour weeks.
Origin or OriginPro
For R&D and QC, take the Pro.
OriginPro includes everything in Origin and adds the advanced analysis most labs end up needing. Here’s what the Pro adds.
OriginPro or Minitab?
Two good tools. Which one is yours?
We sell both, so we have no reason to push the wrong one. Answer four questions and see which fits your work.

What’s new in 2026 and 2026b
Still getting better, twice a year
OriginLab ships new versions regularly. A few highlights from the 2026 releases.
- Life Science mode. Structured tables for groups and replicates, for graphing and analysis.
- Import Prism files. Bring GraphPad Prism projects in and get structured tables automatically.
- New hypothesis tests with diagnostic reports and power analysis for ANOVA and proportion tests.
- New graph types: overlaid contour and individual value chart, plus a slope annotation tool.
- Random Forest and Predictive Modeling Advisor apps for machine learning.
- Flash fill and smart formulas in the worksheet, like in Excel.
- Mirror columns to reference data without copying it.
Where SciSpot fits
Images and instruments in. One graph out.
OriginPro takes data from your instruments. Many of our customers also measure from images. We connect the two, so particle sizes, grain sizes and spectra end up in the same report.
- 1
Measure
Particles, grains and phases measured automatically from micrographs with MIPAR, for example ASTM E112 grain size.
- 2
Analyse
Distributions, fits and statistics in OriginPro, next to your spectra and test data. Batch it with an Analysis Template.
- 3
Prove
Every number traceable, with roles and an audit trail. Read about our data compliance service.

OriginPro, answered
Origin or OriginPro?
For R&D and QC we recommend OriginPro. Peak fitting, surface fitting, PCA and the advanced signal tools are only in the Pro version, and they’re usually the reason people buy Origin in the first place.
OriginPro or Minitab?
If your data comes from lab instruments and ends up in reports and papers: OriginPro. If you run SPC and Six Sigma programmes on a production line: Minitab. Unsure? Ask us, we sell both. See also our Minitab page.
Perpetual or subscription?
Both are available. A perpetual licence is yours to keep and includes the first year of maintenance with updates. A subscription spreads the cost.
Does Origin run on a Mac?
Origin is a Windows program. On a Mac it can run in a Windows environment. Ask us before you buy and we’ll check your set-up.
Can colleagues without a licence see my projects?
Yes. The free Origin Viewer opens Origin project files, so colleagues and customers can view your graphs and data.
We use GraphPad Prism today. Can we move?
Origin 2026b imports Prism files and builds structured tables from them, so you don’t start from scratch.
Spend the afternoon on the science, not the spreadsheet.
Tell us what your data looks like and we’ll send a price for OriginPro, or set you up with a free trial.
